My Jacket Wardrobe | Simplifying Series

Now, I don’t really know what is considered a big jacket wardrobe… I have a feeling some of you will think this is a small and simplified jacket collection, and some of you will think it’s a lot! I have 7… is 7 a lot of jackets to own? Well, that’s how many I have post closet purge! As I said I am not going full on capsule wardrobe at this time, just minimizing what I have and only keeping items I truly love to wear.

So, lets take a look at the 7 jackets that made the cut. As you can see there is absolutely no pop of colour in my jacket wardrobe. Lol. That’s okay with me though, I really am a basic girl when it comes to my style, I love having simple and classic items that pair well with anything and everything.

Jacket 1. The Neelam Jacket by Wilfred Free (from Aritzia) I am OBSESSED with this jacket. First of all its striped…so duh. Secondly its just shades of grey…double duh. It really is an ideal jacket for me. It’s a sweater style jacket that is great for layering, and I have found myself gravitating towards it all winter long. Definitely not on the colder Alberta days though as it’s not the warmest, but it’s definitely one of the cutest!

2. Mackage Florica Jacket (from Artizia) Okay guys, these jackets are an investment. ($$$) but they honestly will last you forever, and they just look better the more you wear them. I previously owned a different Mackage leather jacket for 9 years, and it still looks brand new today. A classic black moto style jacket is such a staple for me, so easy to throw over a tee shirt and jeans, or a dress. Love love love.

3. Levi’s Boyfriend Jacket (from Aritzia) sensing a theme? Yes Artizia is my all time favourite store. If they sold shoes and pyjamas I could probably just shop there for the rest of my life. The thing I love the most about this denim jacket is the length, so often I find womens denim jackets are cropped, and I just wasn’t feeling that look anymore. I was really happy to find a denim jacket that isn’t cropped, and I will be rocking it all spring and summer long!

4. Zara Bomber. I was on the hunt for awhile for the perfect oversized black bomber, but wasn’t having too much luck. I ended up purchasing this bomber from Zara, and just sizing up to a Large (from a small) and it is exactly what I was hoping for. I love wearing it a lot, great for spring and fall!

5. Talula Trooper Jacket (from Artizia) a.k.a. the jacket every girl has… But, I think that’s just because it’s such a cute lightweight jacket, and very easy to style!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

6. Burberry Coat. I have owned this coat for almost 7 years, so I am not even sure what the exact style is. I highly recommend investing in a classic black dressy coat, if you get a good one it will last you and last you. Very easy to style, you can dress it up or down, it’s the definition of a classic coat. Because I live where it’s freezing most of the year I’d say this is my most worn jacket!

7.Community Parka (from Artizia) Lastly, when you live in Canada a parka is essential. I absolutely love this green one by Community, it’s warm but not too bulky, and the green is the kind of green that just goes with any other colour. I get a ton of use out of this jacket!

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetSo, there it is! My jacket wardrobe. I hope you enjoyed this post and I’d love if in the comments you told me some of your favourite jacket styles to own and if you think there is something lacking in mine! I feel like maybe I could do with one fun statement jacket… but, we’ll see. I’m just such a plain person you guys!

I do want to mention also that With Stripes is going to be getting a make over! Soon my blog is going to have a new website and I am very very excited! I apologize in advance if there isn’t a post for the next little while, while we are busy getting the new site made up. It will be well worth it though!!

Rock Tee + An Oversized Bomber

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

As you know from my last post I have been working on minimizing my wardrobe as well as hunting for the perfect basic pieces! On my list of items I felt were missing from my closet were a oversized black bomber jacket, and a soft worn looking rock tee shirt. I have found both! Yay!!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

The tee shirt I found at The Bay, in the mens section. Don’t forget to check the mens section ladies, sometimes you find the best things in there! And the bomber is a Zara find. I actually bought it in a size large and I am normally a small, so as you can see they must fit on the smaller side, because it is over sized on me but definitely not huge!

I hope you all enjoyed this post, my style is on the very casual side these days! Mom life, am I right? But, I still enjoy sharing bits of my everyday style with you all. 🙂 Thank you for reading.

Tackling Anxiety + Making Some Money |Simplify Series

Hi my lovely blog friends. 🙂

If you follow me on Instagram you have probably noticed that I am selling a TON of clothes and accessories on @shopwithstripescloset. I normally tend to clean my closet out a couple of times a year, and then I normally just allow my friends to pick through what they want to take and donate the rest. While I still think that is a good thing to do, obviously, this time I decided to take a different approach and try to sell my things. I would say I am pretty good at laundry and just keeping clothes in generally good condition, so I thought they were worth re-selling!

I spent one day emptying my closet and drawers of all the things I hardly wear, have worn too much, or the dreaded NEVER worn. After that I snapped some pictures of all the items, posted them on Instagarm, and my little #shopmycloset project was rolling! It blew my mind, for a couple reasons, one being that I could actually make a decent amount of $$$ selling my things for cheap prices, two that I could feel my anxiety lifting away with each item leaving my house. Now if you know me well you know that I am a very anxious person, it’s been a part of who I am for as long as I can remember. I don’t have full blown anxiety attacks on the regular, but I am no stranger to them. I do feel like I am in a much better place in my life when it comes to anxiety, but there is always room to grow. The joy I felt being able to sell my things to people who would love them for an affordable cost, while clearing all this space in my closet and mind was amazing.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

With the success of the sale, that’s still going on shop here, and the anxiety free feelings it is leaving me with, I am inspired to start a new mini-series here on the blog! Welcome to the Simplify Series, I am going to continue to purge and minimize my wardrobe and other areas of my life and I want to bring you along with me! This will also be like a journal to myself as I go through this journey, but I of course want to share with you, and learn from you as well!

I don’t think I am going to go right into a capsule wardrobe, but I am definitely minimizing my closet by more then half. I thought it would be fun to share each section as I minimize and also look for the pieces I feel are lacking from my wardrobe. The first post is going to be on jackets, so keep your eyes peeled for that one.

Have any of you tried a capsule wardrobe? Or just living with less in general? I’d love to hear what has and hasn’t worked for you. I’m feeling so inspired over here!!!

Stripes And The City | New York

Hello, lovelies! Sorry it’s been a minute, hope you all are well.

I recently went on a girls trip with one of my best friends (@bianka_bt) to New York City! It was super fun and if you want to see a bunch of snaps from it head over to my Instagram: @withstripes. I have a few posts I want to share with you all from our quick trip to the big apple, and today I am going to start with a simple outfit post!

Did you guys know I liked a good striped shirt? Well, if you didn’t already catch on, I have a major love for all things striped! I also have a love for very simple, maybe some would even say tom boyish outfits.

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetThis outfit I wore on one of our NYC days is my style to a tee. The simple long sleeved striped top, the ripped high wasted jeans, converse, cool sunnies, and my dressy coat. Might seem like an odd mix to wear, but it is truly the look I feel most comfortable and most myself in. Any outfit that fits into these guidelines is a winner for me.

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetThis shirt was a double winner for me, stripes and says New York, how perfect! Also fun fact we took these photos on the street that has Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment on it in West Village!

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetI have a few more NYC related posts coming your way, with a bit more details about our trip, so keep your eyes peeled for that! Thanks for reading as always guys! You’re the best.

Fangirl OOTD

Yes, we all know I am the BIGGEST YouTube fan girl! Okay, well if you didn’t know…now you do. I love YouTubers so much, I honestly barely watch regular T.V. (besides This Is Us and The Bachelor, obviously) My sister got me into watching them when I lived in Vancouver, so about 3 years ago, and the obsession has only grown stronger ever since. I can’t really tell you why watching people film their everyday lives, or talk about skincare products is so fascinating to me, but it is! And if you’ve never tried watching it, I suggest you do, you may be surprised.

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetAnyyyywaaaaay, some of the bigger YouTubers bring out merch sometimes, because people like me are suckers for that kind of thing! Alfie and Zoe (or, Zalfie) are Adam and I’s absolute favourite YouTubers! Alfie daily vlogs, so Adam and I always watch him every evening, and Zoe does usually one video a week but sometimes vlogs as well! We honestly wish we could be best friends with them, because we are weirdos and just think that should happen! Plus they are British, and if you know Adam and I, everything about England is our dream!

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetLong story short, Zoe and her brother Joe (who is also has an awesome channel) have recently brought out some merch, so of course I had to order something.

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetI went for this cool black tee with copper writing, I am such a jeans and tee shirt kind of girl so this actually fit in with my wardrobe very well. Super comfy, super cool, and I just love the Suggs they make me so happy, so I am happy to support their stuff.

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetDo any of you watch YouTubers, I’d love suggestion for who to check out! Hope you’re all having a lovely week so far. Thank you for reading!

Baby, It’s Still Cold Outside

Brrrrrrr, guys! Edmonton is freezing these days. I don’t know about where you live, but where I live it was -21 today! I love winter, but that is quite cold. However it is the season of layering which is my favourite fashion, so I won’t complain, too much!

I thought this evening I would share a list of my favourite winter essentials with you all! Not much else to say about it, so let’s just jump right in!

Processed with VSCO with s2 preset

A hydrating face mask. I have the driest skin ever, so I like to pay my face a little bit extra attention when the temperatures are this low. (personal favourites: glam glow thirsty mudorigins drink up intensive overnight mask , fresh black tea instant perfecting mask )

Sweaters, duh! Sweater weather is the best weather, so I definitely like to cozy up in a sweater all winter long. (and spring and summer and fall, because lets be honest I’m always cold)

A heated blanket. These are a game changer, I never had one until I moved in with Adam. He brought a heated blanket, and I am forever thankful to him for that! I like to turn it on about half an hour before we go to bed so it’s nice and toasty when you crawl in.

A good lip balm (personal favourites: kiehls lip balm #1 , first aid beauty ultra repair intensive lip balmelizabeth arden eight hour cream)

Bath bombs (lush, always) because when it’s cold outside there is nothing like being in a hot bath.

Regular blankets 😉 for Christmas I received a blanket that is a baby blanket but for an adult…and as you’ve guessed it’s the softest coziest thing ever.

Comfy clothes! I recently got a “Sunday Romper” from and lets just say I live in it everyday of the week.

Obviously a good toque, scarf, and pair of mittens.

If you live in cold, I suggest investing in a proper winter jacket! I did a couple years ago, and I have never regretted it.

New favourites for me personally is cuddling Greyson, and of course Jewels! Nothing like snuggling a baby or furry puppy while watching the snow fall outside.

That’s all for now, or all that came to mind right away! Tell me some of your winter essentials in the comments. 🙂 As always, thanks for reading!

It’s 2017! I Broke My Blog!

If you know me, you know I don’t do well with computers, or any technology for that matter. Sometimes working on my blog proves to be much more of a challenge for me then I imagine the regular person would. This was very true the other night when I somehow managed to remove every photo from almost every single one of my blog posts *insert all the tears*. It is totally my fault of not having a full understanding of how wordpress works, but they are gone. Bye, bye.

Processed with VSCO with s2 presetI am sure this is not a mistake most would make, but just so you know if you clear images out of your media library they also remove from all your posts! I’m not even sure what made me delete them out of my media library, but for some reason it seemed like an awesome idea in the moment, and the worst idea ever about 10 minutes later when I realized what I had done. I have tried to restore them, and for some reason a few posts randomly still have one or two images, or they are just a grey square with a sad little question mark in the middle.

I’ve been trying to fix it for the past 3 days, but I just don’t think I am techy enough to sort this out guys. I didn’t really know what to do, re-do every post? Clear my whole blog and start from scratch? Re-doing my whole blog didn’t seem realistic. Clearing it all made me too sad. So, I’ve decided to just be completely honest and say I am really dumb sometimes when it comes to computers, I cleared away all my photos, it makes me so sad, but I am going to just carry on with my blog. There will be plenty of new posts with photos coming your way in 2017, and we can all just look at my previous posts as a big learning experience. Cool? Cool.

Enough complaining, back to positivity! Hope you all had a wonderful and safe NYE! Heeeeeey 2017, nice to see you and heres hoping my computer skills improve this year!

Why I Failed “Vlogmas”

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

If you follow me on YouTube then you probably have noticed that my vlogging everyday of December, better known as “Vlogmas” was a complete fail. Oops! I really had high expectations of myself, but then our house got hit with the dreaded winter cold, and taking care of our baby and our own colds were obviously more important! I did film a couple days while feeling not my best, but let’s be honest how much footage of us laying around our house can one person put out? I also really didn’t want to just force myself to do stuff just for the sake of the vlog, and that is kind of where I want this post to go… I want to explain where my hopes are for my blog and channel, and also let you know a little more about me in the process. So, if you are interested in the mess of thoughts about to pop out of my little brain keep reading, if you’re not no worries.🙂

What I love so much about other bloggers and youtubers is obviously the content they share, but mainly the reliability. I am never going to be able to relate to someone like Kylie Jenner who looks perfect 100% of the time and lives this insane lifestyle. Good for her of course, but that just will never be something I can relate to! With bloggers though, you totally can. Especially when they’re being real with you, and that’s what I aim to be!

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetI know there aren’t that many people reading or watching me, but there are some of you, and I appreciate you all! This type of stuff scares the crap out of me, but it’s also something I am so interested in and passionate about. So that is why I chose to not continue my Vlogmas when we were just not all feeling our best, not because I was afraid of not looking great on camera or anything like that, just because it was straight up boring-ville around the O’Brien home this last week! A lot of tea and naps, and then more tea and then more naps. I never want to do something that makes my life seem more exiting then it is, like look at what an amazing festive day we’re having, meanwhile we are miserable and ill.

My goal is for this place to be a positive one, where everyone is welcome. Another thing about blogger and youtubers is that they can be a happy place to escape when you are having a stressful day, you can watch someone for 10-15 minutes and have a mental break from what you are dealing with and maybe lighten your mood. So I hope to share content with you that gives that same feeling! Whether it’s about make-up, clothes, or just some silly newbie mom moment I’m having.  That being said I also am not open to share some real realness with you guys too, if you’re interested. Like how  sometimes I lay awake the whole night because my heart is so anxious about the tiniest thing, and it’s sooo exhausting (and annoying!) Or how I admire people who have perfect instagram feeds, but sometimes I just want to post a photo of me and my bestie because that person brings me joy not because it’s the perfect “instagram worthy” shot. You feel me? This is a lot of thoughts for one post…so I hope this is making sense.

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetI guess what I am feeling and trying to express to you, is that this is mainly a style and beauty blog, but my main goal is just to bring positivity to you. Whether there is 20 or 200 of you, let’s just make this a positive and real space. And I promise to only share things I love or feel like sharing, I don’t want to ever do something that isn’t me just to make it look like all my days are super fun and amazing! I know I have a good life, but yesterday Greyson projectile vomited on me twice and then screamed for 45 minutes when it was bed time. So very glamourous.😉

Thank you if you read my blog or watch my videos, every view, every comment, they truly make my day. You are all the best! (especially for getting through this random post)

Wearing This Week | Winter Accessories

Hello beautiful peeps! Hope you all had a great start to December. I for one had a good, but busy December 1 as I had lots of filming and editing to do, and have last minute decided to do Vlogmas on my YouTube channel as well! (You know for all 36 of you subscribers😉 )

I am here with another “Wearing This Week” post, and like last time my YouTube video look book will be linked at the bottom! So, last weeks post I was running around the desert in shorts and now today here I am all bundled up. I know a lot of people can’t stand the cold weather, but this truly is my favourite time of year. Layers are my friend. This week I thought I would style two of my favourite winter accessories, a scarf and a headband! And with that here are my outfits.

Outfit One:

As I am sure you all have noticed I do have a thing for stripes, but something about the combination of stripes and plaid really makes my heart sing! Also, these leather leggings from Aritzia are my FAVOURITE, they were pricey but I have worn them for 3 fall/winter seasons now and they still look as good as when I first bought them.

Don’t get me wrong I love wearing toque’s all winter long, but switching it up with something like this H and M headband is a nice change sometimes! I like wearing it with hair down as well, but let’s be honest I am normally running around with a messy mom pony tail so this works well for me.

Black Friday Shopping | HM Style

Heeeey, guys! Hope you all are well. I feel like I have been so consumed by working on my YouTube channel the last couple weeks that my blog posts have kind of lacked, so sorry about that! I am dedicated to doing both, just learning to balance both.

I am still in Arizona with my family (coming home tomorrow…sad) and today was Black Friday. I had never been Black Friday sales shopping before, to be honest I have never had any interest in it, I went Boxing Day shopping once at West Edmonton Mall and it was a nightmare! But Adam really wanted to go so I decided to tag along, and it was SO TAME. Besides finding parking it didn’t seem busier then any other shopping day, must have gone to the right place at the right time.😉

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetProcessed with VSCO with a6 presetWe didn’t really get much, we just wanted to see if there were any good deals more then anything. However, I did score a little haul from H and M and I wanted to share this top with you. I really wanted to find a top that had the choker bit built in, and I found just that! I love the floral pattern it feels very girly, and I think it will pair nicely with jeans as well as skirts.

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetToday I am styling  it casual with a pair of plain jeans from Zara and no shoes as we were just hanging out at the house today (fun fact about me as much as I love shoes for their beauty I don’t like wearing shoes when I don’t have to)

We are travelling back to Canada tomorrow, so definitely won’t be running around with no shoes anytime soon! But, as much fun as vacations are I always look forward to getting back home. Especially since it’s the Christmas season and Christmas to me needs the cold weather.

Wearing This Week | Rompers in the Desert

Hey, guys! Hope you are all doing well. Adam, Greyson, Jewels and I are still loving the vacation life in Phoenix. We have just under a week left, and still making the most of this sunshine while we can! (although I am a winter person, I am a little excited to get home to the snow)

I have been inspired by all the amazing look books on Youtube to start a new series on my blog and youtube channel called “Wearing This Week” where I will show you two outfits I am loving/wearing each week. On the blog it will obviously be written out and shared in photo form, and then on my youtube channel I will briefly chat everything I wore in each outfit and where it was purchased, and then finished off with a mini look book of the outfits. I am going to aim to do it every week, or possibly every other week. We will just see how it goes! Thought it would be a fun way to share a bit of my week and my personal style. Hopefully you guys will enjoy it.

With that being said, lets get into this weeks look! Now normally I plan to put outfits together that are seasonally appropriate, and since I live in Canada seasonally appropriate would mean layers layers layers at the moment! However we are in the desert where it’s still very hot, annnnnd I was very pregnant all summer so I kind of missed out on summer fashion this year. So, this weeks outfits are definitely just desert/warm vacation themed, but next week they will be looking much more like the true canadian winter girl that I am.

Outfit One:

How amazing is this romper from Zara?! I absolutely love the cut out detail in the back, and the fact that it looks like a dress from the front and romper from the back. I was so sad having this hang in my closet all summer with Greyson being the big baby bump he was at the time. So, time to rock it now! …or you know for another week before I return to the winter wonderland I call home.😉

Romper: Zara | Sunniess: Ray Ban | Choker: Pink Blush | Phonecase: Urban Outfitters

Outfit Two:

I am the latest in the world to the overalls/dungaree trend. BUT I DONT CARE.🙂 I picked these shorts overalls up from Forever 21 and I have been loving them this whole trip. Just a bit of a different twist on plain shorts and a tee.

Shorts Overalls: Forver 21 | White Tee: American Apparel | Choker: Pink Blush | Shoes: Converse

I hope you all liked this post! I kind of want the idea to be short quick weekly outfit inspo, so I hope that’s what it will be able to provide! If you want to see me chat about these outfits, and the look book the video is down below. Thank you for reading!

(all the photos were shot outside our room at the Arabella Hotel Sedona, if you are ever staying in that area definitely check them out!)

Running Errands | Style

You know you’re living the #momlife when your purse is now a diaper bag and going shopping for new bottles is actually a highlight of your day! And not in a sad my life is so boring that getting out to buy bottles is my only source of fun… I just actually get excited for all things baby now!

I have been doing a little bit of clothes shopping for myself lately, topping up my wardrobe for the autumn/winter season (which it seems to be swapping between on a daily basis, if you live in YEG you know). I was DYING to get back in jeans so I sucked it up and sized up a little, since the old ones don’t quite fit yet post baby!  I’ve also been adding a few new sweaters to my collection too because who can resist a good sweater?

Today I thought I’d share this look from Zara I wore today running some errands (the fun bottle shopping lol) with Greyson. I actually have been adding some colour to my wardrobe this season…very unlike me, but I am loving the change. Whats something new you have been trying with your style, or wanting to try? Lets talk fashion in the comment section. Or we can talk about exciting things like bottle shopping, if you’re a nerd like me.😉 Thanks for reading!

Not Into Costumes? | Halloween Style

I personally have mixed feelings about Halloween because Halloween is also my birthday. When I was younger I LOVED it because I really don’t like being the centre of attention, so the fact that everyone at school was distracted by candy and costumes was a-okay with me. As I got older though I grew really sick of it, I love dressing up… as in putting together a cool outfit or dressing fancy to go to a nice dinner or a show, but I am not really into the whole costume thing. I don’t really know why that is, but Adam also doesn’t like it so it works out well for us.

However costumes aside, there is a lot I still love about Halloween as an adult! I really love all things festive and Halloween is no exception. I love decorating the house, carving pumpkins, snuggling up and watching a scary movie, candy, and wearing clothes that are Halloween-esque without being a full on costume.

This year I ordered this “Trick or Treat” sweater from and I loooooove it. It’s comfy, and you can wear it pretty much however you like. I am going with a casual look because Adam and I aren’t planning anything too crazy for Halloween/my birthday this year, but I also think you could totally wearing it with a cute little a-line skirt, tights and boots and be good to go!

I did get Greyson a little Halloween outfit as well, so him and I should look super cute together. (got to take advantage of that while I am in charge of his wardrobe and he still thinks I’m cool lol)

October OOTD

I started writing this blog post last night…but then you know, baby happened. Let me tell you having a baby makes doing ordinary things a lot more challenging! The snuggles are  well worth it though. So now we are currently all cuddled up on the couch watching the newest Grey Anatomy and I thought I would finish this up.

I’m so happy October is here, I absolutely love this time of year. The air is crisp and it is definitely sweater weather everyday now. Yay! Today I want to share the sweater I wore the other day. I am loving this turtle neck from Skull Cashmere, it is so comfortable, cute and the skull makes me feel a little Halloween-ish! Also so happy to be fitting back in my leather leggings again as they are my go to all fall and winter long.

Pink Blush + GIVEAWAY

Another maternity style post?! We aren’t just posting baby pictures yet? Nope. Okay. Let’s do this.

I am so looking forward to fall fashion, however first come these awkward in between days where you wake up and it’s sweater weather and then the afternoon comes around and you’re boiling! That’s where dresses like this “cold shoulder” one from Pink Blush comes in very handy. The olive color makes me feel like I’m dressing more autumnal, and the fact that it’s lightweight makes it easy to layer. I like to wear these kind of dresses with a denim jacket (like shown below) or with a big scarf bundled over, and of course my classic converse!

Pink Blush has all kinds of cute maternity wear, and non-maternity wear as well! I found through my pregnancy I liked choosing things I could wear now, but will also be comfortable after the baby (if he ever) arrives. I definitely plan on wearing this dress after baby as well, I think it would work well with tights and little boots too once it’s more consistent autumn weather. Looking forward to styling it without this watermelon sized bump underneath too😉

Still loving this Gap “non-maternity” maternity dress! Wasn’t lying when I said I’d be wearing it all the time till baby comes, and probably after too. Today when we woke up I was pleasantly surprised to feel chilly in our house! (is that the weirdest thing that being cold makes me excited?) but I really was! The air totally felt like autumn today. I probably sound like every other girl, but I just can’t wait for sweaters and of course a PSL!

Since it was a little chillier today I was able to pair the dress with my green Trooper Jacket from Aritzia… and as per usual a pair of converse. (seem to be my go to shoe this pregnancy/summer)

As you can tell from the giant watermelon shape under my dress, I am still pregnant. Haha. We had a doctors appointment this afternoon and she did say things are moving along, just slowly! My due date is tomorrow, so if I haven’t had the baby within the next week they will be inducing me around next Wednesday. So by next week I should be cuddling a baby, maybe even while wearing a fall sweater and drinking a pumpkin spice latte.😉

What are you guys most excited about for Autumn? Let me know in the comments.

Stripes for Him

For those of you who haven’t heard my husband Adam broke him femur last Monday. It was really scary spending the evening in the emergency room and watching him be wheeled off for surgery. Thankfully, everything went smooth, they were able to get him in for surgery right away and he is at home recovering away! I feel so bad for him, watching him be in pain and stuck in bed is no fun. However, I’m trying to stay positive, and think of all the bonding time me him and little babe (who can arrive anytime now, PLEASE) will have.

Being stuck in bed and having your leg covered in incisions and staples = comfy clothes all day everyday. Those are the best though anyways, right? This striped shirt from Lulu Lemon is the softest, so if you have any guys in your life (or if any guys are reading this) I would highly recomend these to you! Obviously I was drawn to the striped one, but they also have them in solid colors as well.

Hope you guys are having a good week, and hoping my next post maybe involves introducing Baby Obie to you all.

“Non-Maternity” Maternity Style | Gap

As I mentioned in my previous maternity style post, I have been a big fan of finding clothes in regular stores that work with this bump of mine over these past 9 months, instead of shopping in actual maternity stores. (side note can’t believe I am 9 months pregnant…crazy)

This Gap dress shown below was another great find for me! I love the shape, and it is sooo comfortable to wear. Last Monday we went to celebrate my husbands birthday at the horse races so I paired the dress with a red hat I purchased when we were in England on our honeymoon a couple years ago, and my classic black converse.

I have had some ups and downs this summer when it came to how I’ve looked throughout my pregnancy, but overall it has been fun finding cute items like this that work with my newly shaped bod! I am itching for this little guy to arrive, but for now you will still find me in dresses like these enjoying the summer.

“Non-Maternity” Maternity Style

“Non-Maternity” Maternity Style|Old Navy

Well I am almost 36 weeks pregnant, and I have to say getting dressed this summer has been interesting for me! For some reason in my head whenever I imagined being pregnant I imagined it being in the winter time (I have no idea why) so I pictured being able to wear leggings and big cozy sweaters over this bump! However, the weather is really quite the opposite of sweater weather right now! It’s been at least +23 or over everyday, hot hot hot!

While I did purchase a couple pairs of maternity jeans and shorts, and as well a lovely friend of mine did lend me a few of her maternity items, there really wasn’t that much maternity clothing I truly loved or felt good in. I didn’t want to go out and spend money on a whole new wardrobe just to wear while being pregnant, but I also did want to have a small selection of clothes that I felt confident in, and felt myself in. So I have just chosen to shop regular clothing for the most part, and just choosing pieces in a size that me and this baby boy can both fit in together.

One of my favourite purchases is this striped dress I recently bought from Old Navy. It’s super comfy and loose fitting, so it feels AMAZING on these hot summer days. I did find this in the regular section of Old Navy, although I do know they do have a maternity section as well. This dress is awesome, super affordable, and is going to be one of my “OOTD’s” on repeat for the next 4 weeks or so till our little guy arrives!
