For The Girl Who Hates Washing Her Hair

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I don’t know if you guys have noticed, but I have been seeing ladies rock these slicked back buns alllll over Instagram lately. And to be honest, I love it, which is weird because I usually prefer a messy hair look!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

The other day when hanging with my mom and sister I was rocking my usual high messy pony tail , which is what I always go for when my hair is not the cleanest, or just most days because #momlife, amirite? Anyways we were just having a chill day and I decided I wanted to test it out, because then if I hated it I didn’t have anywhere I had to go that day.  To my surprise I really liked it, even went away from my side part and tried a middle part as well.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

To achieve this look I basically just combed my hair as flat as I possibly could and then applied every product possible…but like, seriously. Your hair feels DISGUSTING because a lot of gel and hair spray is required, however if your hair is already feeling a bit dirty or greasy anyways, who cares! Roll with it, make it dirtier, and have an on trend hair do! It doesn’t get better then that! I feel like this hair style is very sleek and chic so I personally like the contrast of wearing it with super casual clothing. I have seen a lot of people rocking the track suit looks with their hair like this, or an over sized sweat shirt and I am showing here. It would of course look good for a night out, or a more professional outfit as well.

So, basically if you hate washing your hair. Which is most girls I know! Try this out, I am thinking this is going to be my go to this summer.  🙂

Also, thank you if you are one of the people reading along! And sorry for my silence online lately. Life has been busy, and I have been dealing with some struggles of what I feel like sharing and keeping private online. But, I love this space and appreciate all of you who are here along with me.

Beauty Bars of Soap | Scenterra Soap

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

On the regular I am a shower gel kind of gal. Not for any reason in particular it just seems to be what I gravitate towards! I have my favourites, and I tend to get stuck in a routine with things! When I was younger though I use to always use bar soap, and I really did like it except I did find it was hard to find one that didn’t completely dry your skin out. Well, these beauties from Scenterra Soap definitely do not dry you out, in fact I have found them to be very moisturizing, and I’ve enjoyed going back to an old routine with these bar soaps!

The lovely Madi from Scenterra Soaps sent me these two bars and I’ve been loooooooving them. Firstly because they smell amazing, I have the ground and the awaken, the ground smells of mint, and the awaken smells of lavender and sage and basically like the most amazing spa ever. They are very moisturizing to the skin and are completely toxin free. Winner winner!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Ground: I think this one is my personal favourite of the two, mint is one of my all time favourite scents and when you use this one it has little bits in it that act as an exfoliant. Plus it looks beautiful sitting on the edge of your bath!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Awaken: I think we can all just agree this little buddha is very adorable! I love how this one smells as well, and I’ve been using it a lot on my legs before shaving and it has been working amazing for that.

Let’s chat in the comments about what some of your favourite toxin free beauty products are! And also, are you a bar soap or shower gel person? Tell me, because I’m nosey. 😉

Thanks for reading, guys!

Happy Skin!

Well, Sunday Riley has done it again. I think we should just go ahead and name them my favourite skin care brand. Okay, it’s official. We are in a verrrry committed relationship and it just keeps growing stronger! By stronger I mean even more products to love.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I was in need of a new day time moisturizer and when I saw Sunday Riley came out with C.E.O. moisturizer I was very excited to try it. In the morning I was my face with the Origins GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser and one of the things I love about it (besides how well it cleans and gently exfoliates) is that it smells like fresh oranges! Well guess what, so does this new moisturizer! Match made in heaven. ❤ Something about oranges feel so refreshing in the morning and really helps wake you up! Greyson likes 6 or 7 am wake ups and to be honest I’m not the best morning person, so I’ll take all the help I can get!

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetProcessed with VSCO with a6 preset

It is a little thicker then I normally would apply for a morning moisturizer but it honestly soaks in so well and quick and I’ve had zero issues applying my make up over the top.

This is definitely a new favourite for me, so happy to add it to my skin care routine! Have any of you tried out this product, or any other new skin care finds? Let me know in the comments!

My Nighttime Skincare Routine

Processed with VSCO with s2 preset

I think washing my face is one of my favourite parts of the day, is that sad? Maybe lol. But, it’s true! It’s something I make time for every single day, and if I ever happen to miss it I’m truly sad over it. Obviously it is important to take care of your skin, but it is also important to take care of YOU in whatever way that is. For me having a few minutes to myself at the end of the night to wash my face (whether I am wearing make-up or not) is that time. I always feel refreshed, and I find such joy in going through the routine each night before bed. I use to be in a pattern of getting home from work around 5 and if I didn’t have plans for the evening I would take my make-up off right away before dinner but now I don’t normally get around to it until Greyson is in bed for the night. So now it is usually how I end each day, get Grey to sleep, wash my face, crawl into bed (with the heated blanket cranked to high because it is FREEZING in Alberta) and off to bed I go!

My product line-up is forever evolving, as I am always up to trying something new! But, this routine is one I have been using consistently since about September (some products longer). As I am a true skincare junkie I definitely do use some items at a higher price point, but there are TONS of products I love from the drugstore too, and am open to sharing products I like to use in a future post if anyone is interested.🙂 I have just found the value personally in investing my beauty budget in my skincare rather then other items! But, everyone has there own thing.

With all that said, let’s hope into my routine!

Processed with VSCO with s2 preset

Processed with VSCO with s2 preset

Step One: Remove my eye make-up with Bioderma. This is one of my all time favourite products that I have repurchased over and over again! (Cheaper alternatives that are also amazing the Garnier Micellar Water, and the Simple Micellar Water)

Step Two: Remove face make-up/first cleanse with Sunday Riley Blue Moon Cleansing Balm. I love me a good cleansing balm and this one does the job very well! This product was new to me in September but I will definitely re-purchase!

Step Three: Cleanse my skin with the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. I am a big fan of this product, it is so gentle but really makes your skin feel so clean, and it smells like cucumbers which is a big bonus for me! Smells like a clean spa.

Processed with VSCO with s2 preset

Step Four: Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment, I use this as a serum however the bottle says you can also use it as a treatment where you would apply more and then wash off after a little while. I personally use it every night as a serum and leave it on the whole night. This product absolutely changed my skin, and is what made me fall in love with Sunday Riley  as a brand, and really see the value in a good skincare line up. I feel like whenever I use this people ask me what I have been using on my skin, it’s a game changer for sure!

Step Five: Applying a beauty oil! Normally this is where I use my Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil which is a personal fav, but for Christmas I was kindly gifted the Luna Oil by Sunday Riley, so I have been using it since then. It’s a gorgeous product, extremely blue which can be scary when you use it for the first time, but don’t worry it won’t dye your skin blue! I have only been using it a couple weeks, but lately my husband keeps touching my face and telling me how soft my skin is so I guess it’s working!

Step Six: Time for eye cream, and I have been using the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado for about 2 years now and I have yet to find anything I like better! This little pot is about $35.00, but it will last you FOREVER as you only need a little bit each time.

Step Seven: Okay I know this is a lot of steps, but I’m telling you there is something so relaxing about going through a process like this every night! Or, I am just a crazy skincare product lady. I am okay with that too. Lastly for my face, I apply a moisturizer, I like to let the oil sink in for a few minutes first and then add this. Tidal by Sunday Riley is my favourite moisturizer of 2016 and is carrying through to 2017. However any gel moisturizer is really what I am looking for, I like the light weight formula and the cooling affect it gives. It’s the nicest.

Now, I would also like to add that while it is important to take care of your face, the rest of your skin needs attention too! So that leads me to this next routine…

Processed with VSCO with s2 preset

Lips, feet, hands, and body!

Processed with VSCO with s2 preset

Step Eight: Lip balm! If you live in cold temperatures you feel me on this I’m sure. Alberta is cold and dry. Dry and cold. All the time. That can lead to some very dry and cracked lips if you don’t take care of them! I apply so much lip balm every night. This one by First Aid Beauty I love, but really any heavy duty lip balm will do the trick.

Step Nine: Is anyone else really bad at remembering to moisturize their whole body? For some reason I am all over it with the face skincare but I always forget hey maybe your arms and legs would like some attention too… I was really on top of it when I was pregnant, and I am still trying to keep that effort going strong! I like anything that is a body butter since I have such dry skin. I normally just go for a Body Shop one, but recently have been trying out this Josie Maran one, and I really like it! Plus it smells like lavender which is delightful right before bed time.

Step Ten: I had a pedicure recently and the girl doing it was like uhhh I think you need to give your heels some love. She was right, they are normally a cracked mess. Alberta weather, I’m telling you! So she recommended to me this Footlogix Mousse and it has been making a big difference for my poor little feet so I have added it to the routine! It’s kind of funny using a mousse for your feet, but it is nice because it absorbs so quickly and you don’t feel greasy after applying it!

Step Eleven: The final step, you still with me? HANDS. If you have read my blog a while or watched any of my YouTube videos you know me and my hands have a complicated relationship. In that, they are always dry, splitting, and hurting. I really will keep trying anything and everything until they are fixed. I was also kindly gifted this La Mer hand cream for Christmas so that is what I am currently trying! Also a winner in this area is the Aveeno Eczema Hand Cream, which is a much cheaper alternative but I like just as much!

Thank you for reading. I hope you all have a little part of your day that makes you as happy as washing my face does for me. If not, I hope you could maybe find something! It doesn’t have to be this obviously, just any small activity you can find that helps calm you and make you smile. Love you guys!

Beauty Advent Calendar | The Body Shop

Hello, lovelies! Hope you’re Decembers have all been off to a great start. I am definitely getting more and more in the holiday spirit each day, especially now that I have put our tree up, things are feeling so festive and cozy around here!

Today I wanted to share my beauty advent calendar with you. I have never had one before, I normally just go for a chocolate one, but I have to say I like this waaaay more then chocolate. Don’t get me wrong I do like chocolate, but I am not as a big of a fan as most people are. So, this year my advent calendar is a body shop one, and 7 days in and loving it!!

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetSo far the calendar has included products such as: shower gel, body lotion, loofah, eye liner sharpener, etc… it’s the bomb! I think next year I will try out either this one or another beauty one because it’s just so exciting getting a mini product every morning. Plus the mini sizes are great for travel!

What do you think about advent calendars that aren’t just the traditional chocolate? Or are you all about the Christmas chocolate?

My Travel Make-Up Bag

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Hey, friends! So as you know, or maybe didn’t know I am now currently in Phoenix on a family vacation. It’s Greyson’s first trip and so far so good. He did amazingly well on the flight down here, and looks pretty dang cute in little shorts.😉

I found packing for this trip very stressful for some reason, Adam and I love to travel so I am no newbie when it comes for packing so I don’t know if it was packing for the baby or what it was but it took me so long to figure it out, and I think I forgot a lot of things!

That being said I do have my travel make-up pretty much down to a science now. I always bring all my favourite things that I love and am use to using so I know what I am doing with them! Nothing worse then bringing a brand new product along only to find you don’t like it, and now you’re stuck with it the whole trip. Ya know?

So here is a list of all the products I have down in Arizona with me:

That’s everything I bring along for travelling! The lip colours and eye shadow palette’s will vary, but everything else basically stays the same. What do you like to bring along when you travel? Let’s chat make-up in the comments. Thanks for reading!

Husband Does My Make-Up

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetGuys, I am soooo loving making YouTube videos! Even though I am a complete rookie and don’t know what I am doing when it comes to filming and editing, but that is kind of the fun in it is learning! I have three video’s uploaded so far, but would really like suggestions from you! What would you be interested in seeing on my channel? Beauty? Travel? Style? Vlogs? Tags? Stuff with Greyson? All of the above?! I am open to any ideas. I am going to keep learning so the video quality should (in theory lol) continue improving.

Check out my newest video where my husband Adam attempts to do my make-up. This ones was just for fun, and it really brightened my day to just sit down and be silly! Hope some of that happiness can spread to you as well! Love you all.

Autumn Eyes | Nars Isolde

Another thing I love about this time of year is the make-up! Brown and gold tones on the eyes, red and berry tones on the lips. Yes please! I purchased the Nars Isoldeeyeshadow duo last year and it became an instant autumn classic for me. I reach for this all time because the two colours are absolutely stunning and so easy for a quick everyday look. I believe I read, or was told by the girl working at Sephora that these colours are particularly good for blue eyes and I have to agree because my eyes always look super blue when I use this product.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

My other go to products that complete this look are the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara, and the Loreal The Super Slim liquid liner. These are my all time favourite eyeliner and mascara products! I have tried A LOT of different ones, some high end some drug store and these two are by far the best ones I’ve ever used.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

For this look I use the lighter shade in the duo all over my lid and under my bottom lash line, I then blend the darker shade through the crease. A little liquid liner (sometimes a winged line sometimes not) and lots of mascara, you’re good to go! Very easy but still a nice autumn-ey look.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead of you, Happy Thanksgiving to you. I am very thankful for all the love and support you all give me on my blog, it doesn’t go unnoticed!

Skincare Love | Sunday Riley

I thought since it was Sunday we could chat Sunday Riley! I first started using this skincare brand last September and it has been an incredible/expensive love affair ever since. I had read some blog post and noticed some YouTubers talking about the Good Genes Treatment Serum, all saying how it had totally changed their skin. I was obviously tempted to test it out for myself, being the true skincare junkie that I am. At first I had a hard time tracking this stuff down as our Sephora’s here in Alberta weren’t carrying the brand! (they’ve since fixed that problem) So when my husband and I made a trip down to Arizona that month I was thrilled to find some at the Sephora there…and so my problem began. This serum was all that it was hyped up to be, so really it’s a good thing because the difference it made in my skin was like no other product I’d used before. Even Adam noticed right away and was always commenting on how clear my skin looked. I only refer to it as a problem because this brand is in no way cheap!

Despite the high price tag I am completely addicted to this product. It is one of my absolute favourites to use and I have repurchased a few times now. I use it after cleaning and before any oils or moisturizers. The bottle claims that it will brighten, exfoliate, plump, and even your skin: for me it does all these things! My skin is madly in love.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

This was the only product I tested out from this brand for a long long time, however recently I was very kindly (but KIND of mean because the addiction continues and my wallet weeps) gifted two other products from Sunday Riley from my mom. She nicely bought me the Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm and the Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream as a little post having a baby present! So sweet! I have only been using these two products a little over two weeks, but I have been using them every night and they are already favourites of mine! I just find this brand to give such immediate results. I love how they smell, how they feel going on, the packaging, and most importantly the way my skin looks and feels after applying! So, if you have room in your budget or you’re like me and your guilty pleasure is splurging on lovely skincare I would highly suggest Sunday Riley to you! If it’s not your thing and you think I am a crazy person I understand😉

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I do enjoy investing a little more in my skincare because I had bad skin for a long time so when I find products that work for me I don’t mind putting more of my beauty budget towards that, but don’t get me wrong with beauty products there are tons that I love from the drugstore as well! I would call my make up and skincare collection a pretty even mix of high end and lower end brands and I would love to share and chat about them all! If you would like me to do a post on anything specific when it comes to skincare let me know in the comments below.

I hope you all had a beautiful weekend, thank you for letting me ramble about skincare to you.

*Side note my skin type is dry*

Empty Products

I don’t know about you guys but I am majorly addicted to watching Youtubers. I honestly probably will watch a Youtube video over a tv show or movie 9 times out of 10. I’m not sure what it is about them, but for the past two years I have become so addicted to them, and beauty channels are definitely one of my most favourite to watch. One of my favourite people to watch is Estee Lalonde, she has a beauty and lifestyle channel and I honestly just love everything about her! One video that she has done a handful of times on her channel is an “empties” video, meaning products she fully used up to the last drop! I love these types of posts because it’s interesting for me (a beauty junkie) to see what products people felt good enough to use to it’s entirety and then hearing if they feel it is worth a re-purchase or not. Now I am not brave enough to record myself for Youtube discussing the products I’ve recently emptied, but I thought I would roll with that concept here on my blog instead. Now, obviously in the time it took me to go through these products there was other things used up as well, but I only recently got organized with saving them for this post, so the rest are sadly already recycled. Next time I’ll be more on the ball.😉

  1. Clinique All About The Eyes eye cream. I did really enjoy this a lot, it was light and felt cool to put on. I originally thought I would try it because of my true love for Clinique Moisture Surge (see testimony of love here), so I thought I’d enjoy an eye cream from the same brand. While I did like how it felt to apply, I didn’t find it did has much for my eye area as other brands, so not sure I will repurchase.
  2. Marc Jacobs Daisy Fragrance. I have to say this is probably my all time favourite fragrance, and I probably smell like this 80% of the time. Not much to say, except already repurchased.
  3. Emma Hardy Amazing Face Meringue Cleansing Balm. There’s a mouth full! This stuff was hard for me to track down, as many beauty bloggers I follow live in Europe sometimes they rave about a product and then I’m like where the heck do I buy this stuff?! I was able to track this down on feelunique.com, it’s on the pricey side but oh my goodness, it’s totally worth it. This was my third container I have gone through, and I will definitely be placing an order ASAP now that it is empty again.Processed with VSCO with a9 preset
  4.  Body Shop Body Butter in Coconut. Body butters have been my best friend for awhile, but even more so over these last 9 baby growing months. I have been covering myself head to toe in moisturizers everyday just trying to protect my stretching skin (I have been using these with a combination of different oils, if you’re interested in just my pregnancy skincare routine comment down below) The coconut is a personal favourite, it smells like vacation to me, and feels very luxurious to apply! I always repurchase these, just usually test out different scents.
  5. Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face face primer. This one I had in the tiniest size, I can’t remember if it was given to me as a sample or if I bought it in that evil section of mini products at Sephora that gets you every time. This I did like, and I really did notice that it blurred any pores or imperfections on my face, especially around my nose! I don’t use a primer everyday, but I would reccomend this one to a friend, and I would definitely buy it again for myself if I felt I needed my make-up to last through an event or something.Processed with VSCO with a9 preset
  6. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil. If you read my previous beauty post I went into a lot of detail about this oil and why I love it so much, so if you want full details check that post out! This is my third bottle I believe…and yeah they better never stop making this because I will just buy it forever and ever.
  7. Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. This stuff if magic. It does appear quite thick in the container, which can seem intimidating for an eye cream, especially when you want to apply in the morning before make-up. Don’t let it scare you, this stuff feels incredible to apply, and while it is a rich cream it absorbs so quickly and smoothly and make-up goes over the top perfectly fine. Just opened my new one of these last night, so that answers that!
  8. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer face primer. I have mixed feelings about this product, I saw so many bloggers talk about this that I was very curious to try! It was quite pricey, and while it feels absolutely incredible on your skin when you apply it, I am not really sure it did anything in regards to keeping my foundation in place longer. So, iffy on this one guys.Processed with VSCO with a9 preset
  9. Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. Get it. It truly does keep your make-up in place, plus who doesn’t love a nice fast mist? Especially on hot summer days.
  10. Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede Cologne. I tried my first Jo Malone products last September, and it was this fragrance and a candle. I purchased both while on a trip to Arizona with Adam and my family, and I fell in love with the brand. This scent was stunning, and I think someone asked me each time I wore it was it was. I definitely want to try more from her collection, either this one again or one of the many other scents in the range!

Hope this kind of post was interesting to you, because lets be honest I could really talk beauty and skincare all day everyday. Happy Sunday friends!

Day n’ Night Skincare with Kiehl’s

Let’s have a skincare chat! As skincare is something I am super passionate about, and absolutely love talking about (finding other people who love to chat skincare and discuss different products is my dream come true) but, to be honest I have only taking an interest in taking care of my skin for about the past two and half years. Now that I do I have no clue what I was thinking before! I use to be that girl who always slept with her make-up on, never moisturized, and definitely never took the time to apply different face oils in the morning and night. However I am a changed woman, and I do not know what I would do without my skincare routine, it is one of my favourite parts of the day.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I first tried out one of the Kiehl’s facial oils about two years ago when I was living in Vancouver. I had read a bunch of blogs, and watched a lot of beauty youtube channels rave on about the product, so I was very curious. I started with the Midnight Recovery Concentrate, applying it every night after cleansing and before moisturizing. I instantly fell in love, my skin became so clear and so soft. So, I was addicted. I have since recommended this product to many people in my life, and I think it’s safe to say they are all addicted now too!   You only need a few drops of this stuff a night, so it lasts a very long time, a great addition to anyones skincare routine.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Secondly, the Daily Reviving Concentrate. Instant love and addiction yet again. You apply this oil in the same way as the Midnight one…except in the morning time. This one too I find works best if you rub it together in your hands first, it warms it up and it just seems to absorb into your skin better. It also does not leave your skin feeling greasy or oily, I know it can sound scary to apply oils to your face especially in the morning before make-up, but this stuff absorbs so quickly and make-up goes over it beautifully!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I could talk about these products forever, but I would also recommend if you are curious yourself going into a Kiehl’s location and talking to someone on their sales team. Everyone that works there is super educated on the products and have amazing tips for all skin types. I have had nothing but positive shopping experience in Kiehl’s, I always walk away learning so much and with new exciting products to test out.

Clinique Moisture Surge

I have been using this moisturizer non stop for about two years now, every time I think I should branch out and try something new I always find myself coming back to this because it’s just too good. So, thank you Clinique. Please never stop making this product!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

The moisturizer is a very lightweight formula that you can use under or over top of make-up. I prefer to use it underneath as the last step in my skin care routine. It is a gel consistency and feels cold and soothing when you apply it. You can also opt to use it as a 5 minute moisture mask and then just wipe it off, although I find it soaks in so great that I have never felt the need to wash it off after using!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I have recently started trying the Moisture Surge Face Spray as well, and I love it just as much as the moisturizer. It has truly been one of my favourite products this hot hot summer, I have been keeping it in my bag so I can just apply it whenever throughout the day.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Both products are oil-free, and I believe would be good on any skin type. So if you are feeling like your skin is a dehydrated, or you just want a little treat for your skin I would highly recommend trying these out.
